This lesson introduces you to our Core Value: Environmental Stewardship and some of the many ways it shows up in the markets.

Environmental Stewardship: Our commitment is genuine and timeless. No measure of business success is complete without considering the environmental impact on the earth and its resources. We support local businesses with like-minded values. If we think of ourselves as stewards, we think in terms of the future - how our actions today affect tomorrow's generations. By educating ourselves, we can influence our families and communities.

In 2016 Town & Country Markets set a goal to reduce our greenhouse gas output by 25% before the year 2025.

We reduced it by 30% within two years of setting that goal!

We did this by addressing items such as...

Making adjustments to the HVAC (Heating/Ventilation/Air Conditioning) systems & installing advanced controls

Being good stewards shows up in a variety of ways. Let's have a look at some of the ways that as a Company we are having a positive impact.

Town & Country Markets has taken on some huge projects, in the form of market remodels.

Environmental Stewardship is always a part of those conversations when decisions are being made.

We learned many things remodeling Town & Country Market - Bainbridge Island and went on to apply LEED practices that made sense for remodels at Town & Country Market Lakemont and at Ballard Market.

Environmental Stewardship is everyone's responsibility.
