Process Feedback with An Open Mind

4 Min

Processing feedback is always fashionable.
Keep an open mind to accept feedback as you work.

There are four steps you can take to process feedback with an open mind:

Step 1: Pause before responding.

It’s natural to get defensive when someone points out your mistakes. Instead of immediately responding, take a moment to let it sit with you.

Step 2: Ask for specific examples.

Sometimes feedback can be ambiguous or too broad. Get more information about what you did so you know what your actions look like.

Step 3: Reflect on your feelings about the feedback.

Be honest with yourself about how this criticism makes you feel.

Step 4: Create a plan to address the feedback.

Collect all the comments you’ve received and map out a plan of action.

Processing feedback with an open mind is a strong start to implementing the notes and improving your work.
