With every search you can always utilize more advanced options, but many of these options can be used with a few simple shortcuts called “operators.” Search operators allow you to use different characters to refine your search. Some of these are similar to traditional search engine operators but many are unique to Twitter. To search for an exact phrase, surround the words in quotes. This will only return searches that include that exact phrase. To search for tweets after a certain date type in your search followed by a space and the word “since” then type a colon and the date in the format of 4-digit year dash 2 digit month dash 2 digit day.To search for tweets before a certain date swap the word “since” with “until”.Make sure you don’t leave a space after the colon or the search will not work. Another valuable shortcut is to search only for tweets that contain links. To do this, type in your search then add a space and “Filter: links”. With Twitter operators you can easily refine your searches and make them more efficient.
