There’s a special treat in store for Tumblr fanatics next time they open their iPhone or iPad: a brand new camera app with a bunch of handy features. The updated camera’s got a grid, a flash, and the ability to take multiple photos to compile into an album. In short, taking pictures on Tumblr is now much, much better.
We’re particularly excited about the new camera grid. The grid is an overlay on the camera screen so you can see the proportions of your photo, and it lights up when your camera is aligned straight to protect you from your crooked-photo-snapping self.
Along with the overlay grid, the new camera flash and photoset builder are great additions to the app. You can set the flash to ‘Auto’ and the app will automatically detect when you need some extra light. Otherwise, just set the camera to ‘On’ if you’re in low light, or ‘Off’ if you’re outside or in bright light. To use the photoset builder, just take a photo and then press the camera icon on the posting page to select the photos you’d like to add to the album. You can return to the camera and add new photos by tapping the camera icon in the upper left again.
