Google Chat is much more than a real time instant messaging tool. With the integration of Google Talk’s computer mic and webcam software, it can be used as an all in one phone and video conferencing tool as well! The first thing that you should notice are the icons that designate the types of chats you can do with different contacts. You will be able to voice chat with most users because almost all of today's computers come standard with built in mics and speakers but not all computers come standard with video cameras. If you would like to start chatting with someone, you will have to look for a small video camera next to your contacts name. This icon means that this contact has a video camera on their computer and you can invite them to a video chat. If you have a chat window open, click on the video camera, and a live video chat will be initiated. When you click on this he will be sent a notification of an inbound video chat. Once he accepts this chat a two-way live video chat will be initiated and a small window will show both my screen and the other persons. You can expand the video chat window by clicking on the small expand button in the corner. Google talk, voice, and video chats can connect you with anyone in the world for free. All that you need is a web cam, a Gmail account and an Internet connection.
